Myronov Mykola

1990

Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 1990. Currently lives in Odesa, Ukraine. Mykola Myronov is an artist whose practice revolves around photography and three-dimensional constructions. Through his art, he explores the true nature of the world around us and the role of human life within it. "For me photography opens an incredible space for self-reflection about life and death. I believe human life is just a fleeting moment in the history of the universe, yet for each individual, it's the most important and beautiful moment of all the history of the universe."

His passion for photography began in childhood. At the age of 11, he purchased his first SLR camera after saving his school lunches money for over a few months. His aesthetic sensibilities were shaped by the minimalist constructivist style of Kharkiv and the anti-aesthetic traditions of the Kharkiv School of Photography. He graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture and later pursued further education at the Kyiv School of Photography under Dimitri Bogachuk and the Mykolaiv School of Photography under Roman Pyatkovka. Some of his artworks are part of the collection at the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. Also they made a remarkable impression on Martin Parr at Photometria Festival in Greece and won at such awards as Luxembourg Art Prize, Denis Roussel Award, YEARBOOK, Life Framer, BIFA, TIFA, PX3, IPA, etc.
