PAVLOS, ANTIN
1905 - 1954
Antin Pavlo (1905 - 1954) - a famous Ukrainian sculptor.
He graduated from the art-industrial school in Lviv. He was engaged in painting with Olexa Nowakiwsky. He participated in numerous exhibitions of the Society of Art Lovers. He was a member of the Duck Fate artist group.
After the Second World War, A. Pavlo migrated first to Germany and then to the United States, where he lived to death. The sculptor began his work with small terracotta figures-busts, images of animals; later, his interest focused on historical subjects: projects of monuments, busts (A. Novakovsky, T. Shevchenko, B. Khmelnitsky, Mazepa, Prince Roman Galitsky, King Daniil Galitsky, etc.). The best works of Pavlos belong to female figurines and torsos ("Girl", "Mother", etc.).
